Rock Climbing

One of our most popular climbing areas "The Feathers", at Frenchman Coulee, is located 5 miles southwest of George along the old Vantage Highway. Climbers will find a variety of traditional and bolted sport routes up to 90 feet in height on unusually clean basalt.

Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park / Wanapum Recreational Area is a 7,470-acre (30 km˛) state park at Vantage, Washington including 27,000 feet (8200 metres) of freshwater shoreline on the Columbia River. It contains many examples of petrified wood found in the area.

The Dune
The Dune is a well known sandbar across the river from the Gorge Amphitheatre only accessible by boat. Three day weekends attract a big party crowd.
